Assistance for Marshallese Families Needing Specialized Healthcare
While our organizations priority is helping improve what is available for Marshallese within their communities, we recognize that there are times when they will need to seek specialized healthcare not available in the community where they live. While our budget remains humble we offer what we can to offset some of their miscellaneous expenses.
Marshallese Cultural Awareness Initiative
Marshallese seeking medical care in the US encounter many barriers including providers that are unfamiliar with their culture and how to best meet their medical needs, as well as interpretation services that do not have Marshallese available. We are working together with community leaders and other non-profits on innovating solutions.
Outer Islands Medivac
Thanks to generous in-kind donations we recently provided specialized equipment and training for critical care medivac to the Nurse Practitioners identified to provide medivac in the Marshall Islands. These donations included the correct sized equipment for all patient populations: adult, pediatric and infant. There are more donations, equipment and training to come. Stay tuned!
Nito’s Wings Documentary
Nito's family has a rich history of advocacy for their country. In one of Tony deBrum's last interviews he highlighted that Marshallese need to find innovative ways to keep the momentum of this advocacy moving forward. Together with Nito's family and an Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker we hope to fulfill this goal. We seek to mentor future Marshallese filmmakers in the production, please inquire about opportunities.
